Anything that could cause fire, injury or major loss: burning smells, smoke, sparking, scorch marks, buzzing from the board, a shock from any appliance or tap, water near wiring, or a total loss of power you cannot explain. If in doubt, switch off at the main switch and call us.
If it is safe, switch off the affected circuit or the main switch. Unplug appliances on that circuit, keep people away from damaged fittings and do not touch anything that is hot, wet or sparking. If there is fire or smoke, leave the building and call the fire service first.
Out-of-hours visits carry a higher call-out charge because an electrician is dispatched outside normal hours. We always tell you the call-out charge on the phone before we travel, so you can decide.
If the fault is on the utility side, such as the incoming supply cable or meter, we will confirm it with testing and help you report it to your electricity provider. If the fault is on your side of the meter, we fix it.
For planned work, we give a fixed quote after a survey. For emergencies, there is a call-out charge plus a fixed price for the repair, agreed with you after diagnosis and before work starts.
We accept cash, bank transfer and commonly used mobile payment methods. Payment is due on completion unless we agree staged payments for larger projects in writing.
It won’t, unless we find something that was hidden, such as damaged cable inside a wall. In that case we stop, show you the problem, and only continue once you approve the revised price.
Yes. Workmanship is guaranteed, and manufacturer warranties apply to parts and fittings we supply. If something we fitted fails because of our workmanship, we come back and put it right.
Some jobs, like rewiring, require chasing walls or lifting floorboards. We explain this in the quote, protect surfaces and furniture, and leave walls ready for filling and painting unless making good is included.
For emergencies, yes, someone needs to let us in and agree the quote. For planned work, we can arrange key collection if you prefer, as long as someone can approve any changes by phone.
Warning signs include rubber or fabric-insulated cable, frequent tripping, discoloured sockets, no RCD protection and a board with old rewireable fuses. A safety inspection gives you a definite answer.
Not always. Large loads need a dedicated circuit and enough capacity in the board and supply. We check your maximum demand and advise whether an upgrade is needed before installing.
Yes, as long as the fittings are suitable for the location and come with the correct ratings. We will advise if a product is unsuitable for a bathroom, outdoor area or ceiling type.
We connect inverters, UPS units and generators with proper changeover switching so backup power can never feed back into the grid or create a hazard for line workers.
